Adam Lanceley Returns with ‘Back To The Sunshine’ EP

After being involved in a horrific car crash during his childhood, Adam Lanceley was told he would not walk or talk again. However, he proved the Doctors wrong, showing unprecedented levels of grit and determination to make a full recovery and even run the London Marathon for the Brain and Spine Foundation. As well as this, Adam has forged himself a career in music, recording 5 albums and releasing the new EP, ‘Back To The Sunshine’ on 7th April.

At the time of his accident, not a lot of research had been done into the treatment of brain and spinal injuries, so Adam knows first-hand how traumatic the recovery process can be when the expertise is simply not available.

The Brain and Spine foundation was also in its formative stages when Adam sustained his injuries, but now he is donating all proceeds from sales of the EP to the charity. He says: ‘I know it is a charity well worth supporting so that the trauma is reduced for future sufferers and I am committed to trying to help as much as I can’.

With his new EP, Back To The Sunshine, Adam has been keen to experiment with new production methods and instrumentation whilst still maintaining his signature style. Whilst Adam has been compared to the likes of Lou Reed, Nick Cave and Johnny Cash, he takes inspiration from a wide range of artists including R.E.M, Roy Orbison and most significantly, The Beach Boys. As a result, Adam creates a genre-bending blend of music that evokes a definitive sunny, West Coast vibe.

On a songwriting level, a mix of factors help Adam form the ideas for his songs, but recently he has been looking to his past for inspiration. Locations from Adam’s childhood, in particular, have sparked ideas for him and he has turned these memories into introspective pieces of music that create a mystical grandeur of the power of reminiscing.

‘Tomorrows’ Rising Star Adreyn Cash

Processed with VSCOcam with e3 preset
Alternative Soul SingerSongwriter Adreyn Cash announces the summer release of his new EP featuring two massive tracks
The EP, set for release this summer, will feature his already huge track ‘Anthem’, and the powerful new ‘Tomorrow’ which will be released on March 9th. With a sound resembling that of Lana Del Ray, Cash’s unique tracks ooze passion and innovation.
The single ‘Anthem’, which was released earlier this year, has already had great success. Inspired by his initial struggle with his music career, Adreyn wrote the song to remind himself of his unconditional love for the industry. The EP is titled ‘Rich Girls Don’t Marry Poor Boys’, taking inspiration from ‘The Great Gatsby’, and reflecting that sometimes in life we must put others before ourselves. Adreyn’s EP is about art, creating something that is transcendent, innovative and truly artistic.
Crediting artists including Bruno Mars, Miguel, Prince and Frank Ocean as his inspiration, the EP features a mixture of songs, some which are socially and politically influenced, and some that are about fun and love. It is Cash’s own representation of his world; “I want my music to bring light and knowledge to my generation…painting a picture with my voice and my words”, says Adreyn.
Having studied Commercial Music at Canterbury Christ Church University, Adreyn has applied his knowledge and artistic creativity to produce well written songs with strong vocal performances. With big plans for the future, it is safe to say this extremely talented artist is certainly one to watch.

Expansive minimalism from debut Slows Down EP

IMG_2613 bw
Self-titled release is due to land on Feb 11th
Based in London and influenced by a heady cocktail of Swans, Spiritualized, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Radiohead,  60s pop, Middle Eastern classical music and more, Slows Down is the musical pseudonym of multi-talented solo artist Alexander Hawthorne.
A proficient self-taught multi-instrumentalist, he writes music which defies easy categorisation – exploding with multi-cultural ideas and independent in every sense. His debut EP, self-titled, will be available from February 11th, and you can hear an early taster here with ‘The Way Down Leering’:
https://soundcloud.com/slowsdown/the-way-down-leering
Written during spells in India and hitchhiking across the US, the EP is full of heavy themes presented with depth and a full on sound. All the many parts are played by Hawthorne himself, self-recorded and produced into one cohesive unit. But in spite of the broad instrumental strokes, the ideas are simple – minimalist even. It makes for a varied and versatile collection of tracks.
The EP is just the beginning of a longer project, in which Slows Down will continue to experiment in unique and creative ways. A full album will follow the EP, and he intends to bring together a group to perform live next year to perform these tracks in full, live for the first time. Thus far, due to Slows Down’s self-contained methodology, his music has lived in the studio and in recorded form. In spite of those limitations, the music is already getting a lot of positive feedback from previous single releases:
“I’ve grown to appreciate simplicity in music almost above all else. This is why, I think, I’ve fallen quite so hard for Slows Down.” – Matthew Healy, GoldFlakedPaint
“Taking advantage of the no compromise necessary freedom that only a true solo recording allows, as well as the opportunity to really sculpt the sound of these tracks with numerous overdubs and extremely careful manipulation, Hawthorne has created an extremely well defined world here” – Nathan Ford, The Active Listener
“A melancholic hypnosis of painstaking beauty. The track weeps from start to finish and manages to conjure some next level, swirling soundscapes. This is all from just one man, lets not forget that…” Phill Walker, One For The People
The EP will be available in vinyl and download forms from February 11th, and you can also look out for a free download of ‘Silent Night’ to be made available on Christmas Day.

Adam Protz Releases Intangible EP – ‘Movements’

IMG_0409

Hailing from St Albans after a period of studying in Sheffield, Adam Protz has had several years to perfect his craft of composing. Using delicate piano melodies and intricate instrumentals, Adam Protz has created his beautiful EP ‘Movements’, consisting of four alluring and exquisite tracks. In the past, Adam has written music for films, animated shorts, a dance show, an educational DVD and even a brewery documentary!
Watch his latest video for ‘Movements’ here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vS41YT2sxZ8
Protz has been writing music since the tender age of fifteen and began his journey into music writing heavy rock songs with soft orchestral bridge sections as a contrast, this developed into a desire to write for Hollywood movies. However, after listening to minimalistic meditative piano music, written by the likes of Ludovico Einaudi, Adam soon discovered that he was much more suited to creating emotive music in which he could incorporate his own personality and spirituality.
The lack of lyrics in the music leaves it up to the listener to interpret the piece as they wish. It provokes an emotional reaction and is also incredibly relaxing. The ‘Movements’ EP is proof that lyrics aren’t a necessity to provoke powerful sentimental thoughts
Protz aims to inspire relaxation and offers the perfect setting for escaping to through his music. A firm believer that the world is over-obsessed with Smart-phones and social networks, Protz encourages listeners, from all walks of life, to return to the roots and escape with him into his musical world of beautiful, elegant minimalism.
‘Movements’ is due for release on the 30th November.

Singer-songwriter Lauren Rich set for EP and single release

‘The Same Sky’ EP and ‘The Drink Talking’ single both released 29th September
Born in London and living in Hertfordshire, Lauren Rich is a singer-songwriter who certainly knows how to weave her distinctive voice around an effective acoustic chord pattern. With a taste for harmony and autobiographical lyrics that mean her songs border on country, Lauren is an artist with a bright future.
The next step in her musical career will see Lauren run a simultaneous release, with single ‘The Drink Talking’ taken from EP ‘The Same Sky’. Recorded with engineer Alan Emptage (Skunk Anansie, Arcade Fire, London Grammar, Adam Ant, Boy George) at OneLouder Studios, the single was written with a hangover when Lauren realised she sent a drunken text to a guy the night before: https://soundcloud.com/laurenrichmusic/the-drink-talking
Impressively, the full EP was recorded around spells in hospital where Lauren was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. However, she made it a point of pride to continue with her work, not wanting to let people down seeing as the EP was paid for by her fans, who supported her through a successful crowd funding campaign.
It’s little wonder that she is turning so many heads. Having performed at prestigious London venues such as Proud in Camden and The Water Rats in Kings Cross, not to mention playing live during radio interviews with BBC London and BBC Three Counties, her knack for catchy, acoustic melodies is clearly catching on.
In the meantime, ‘The Same Sky’ EP and ‘The Drink Talking’ single are both released 29th September.

Three track EP follows last year’s ‘My Promise’

Serena Kern is an Indian/Swiss singer-songwriter whose multi faceted, soulful pop has garnered fans from all over the world and it’s not difficult to see why.

Her latest release, a three track EP that brings in multiple influences from her pop sensibilities as well as her past in India, is released on May 7th.
Comprising heartfelt pop ballad (and title track) ‘I Lied’, as well as the upbeat and Indian music inflected ‘Better to Have Loved’ and the slow acoustic build of ‘Lullaby’, the EP continues her approach of writing autobiographical music with a varied sound.

Dutch indie pop-rocker Natasha Nicholls releases debut EP

3-track download raising money for handicapped children in Asia and Africa
Hailing from a ‘tiny village in the Netherlands’, Natasha Nicholls is an exciting, self-taught musician who quite literally writes songs in her sleep. Having already gained the attraction of the national media in the Netherlands, De Telegraaf (the Dutch version of the Daily Mail) and Story Magazine (one of the biggest magazines in the Netherlands) just to name a couple have featured the young musician.
Each of the three songs from her debut EP, titled simply ‘EP’, were developed from ideas which were roughly recorded after waking up with melodies and lyrics in her head. It’s indicative of a passionately DIY approach that is also reflected in her excellent animated video, which she edited to suit her song entirely herself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_IfYlilpIg
In fact, Natasha Nicholls is a self-made musician in every sense, building her own website from scratch as well as creating the artwork for the EP and setting up and taking her own artist photos. It’s a fierce approach which has won her a great online following and attracted much media attention, as aforementioned – not bad going for an artist who’s also juggling her time with her student studies.
Even more impressive, Natasha Nicholls’ charity work has raised a lot of money over the years for needy children around the world, leading to her own recently established children’s foundation that aims to help handicapped children and orphans in Asia and Africa. For each copy of the EP sold, Natasha has pledged a percentage to the cause.
