Britney Spears set to challenge her Father’s control over her conservatorship

Original Article

Britney Spears, via her lawyer, has said that she no longer wants her father, Jamie Spears, in sole control of her conservatorship.

In a new report from the New York Times, Britney’s lawyer Samuel D. Ingham III submitted a filing earlier this week where he said that she thinks her conservatorship “must be changed substantially in order to reflect the major changes in her current lifestyle and her stated wishes.”

According to NYT, this has come after an extended period of time where Britney showed no public desire to change any aspects of the conservatorship, or comment on it at all.

The private nature of the conservatorship – which has been in place since Britney’s breakdown in 2007 – has sparked concern among her friends, fans and even family, who worry that she, and her finances, are being mishandled by her father.

This development comes after the recent #FreeBritney trend, where concerned fans expressed their scepticism for her father’s control over her conservatorship. It will be interesting to see how far Britney takes it.

Taylor Swift’s new album ‘folklore’ continues to dominate the charts as it becomes one of the biggest selling records of 2020 around the world.

The surprise album arrived last month (July 24) and saw Swift collaborating with The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver on an album written and composed during the coronavirus lockdown.

The indie-leaning album, a shock move away from her pop roots, has received a string of acclaimed reviews since its release.

The album sold 37,060 copies in its first week in the UK alongside 24,050 streams and 12,152 album downloads, earning Swift the top spot in the charts. It also means Swift is the first female artist to score five UK Number 1 studio albums in the 21st century.

In the UK singles chart, Swift also dominated. ‘Cardigan’ debuted at Number 6, ‘Exile’ – her collaboration with Bon Iver – went in at Number 8 and ‘The 1’ landed at Number 10.

Over in the US, the album has already sold 846,000 copies making it the best selling record of the year after being on sale for just one week.

As reported on the BBC, Swift is now also the first artist in US chart history to have seven albums sell more than 500,000 copies in a single week – as well as being the first female artist to have seven albums debut at number one.

Worldwide, the album has sold over 2 million copies and on Spotify, Swift set the global record for first day album streams by a female artist. The album received almost 81 million streams in 24 hours.

There is no denying Taylor Swift’s immense commercial talent, the female singer has been dominating the charts for years and continues to do so as we watch her music and artistry develop. Love or hate her, Taylor Swift is set for Pop legend status.

Singer Songwriter Chris Lewington brings us a much anticipated new project

Chris Lewington is our next Wordsmith of the Week that we are elated to be shining the spotlight on. Lewington is a Kent based singer-songwriter, and veteran of the industry. Having previously achieved both mainstream and cult success with The Silence and The Bicycle Thieves Chris Lewington now seeks further solo success with new project ‘Riverside’.

Riverside is an accomplished 12-Track project, with all the best elements of 60s and 70s singer-songwriter style, fused with his own eccentric and idiosyncratic style. Riverside is a completely solo venture for Lewington, having written, performed and produced every track on the album his talent, skill and experience is evident.

The project, created in his home of rural Kent is infused by British countryside inspiration, bringing with it a nostalgic, comforting and strangely familiar vibe.

Chris Lewington has already had a success and eclectic career, having performed on the same stages as The Breeders, Jah Wobble and more. Yet Riverside is perhaps his greatest accomplishment to date, benefitting from his wealth of experience, influence and skill developed over his musical career.

Listen now to Riverside, and see the talent for yourself.

Musicians join forces after horrific arson attack on ancient woodlands

Whiteleaved Oak has stood in Malvern Hills Herefordshire for approximately 500 years, a spot revered by thousands of nature lovers and druids. As a result of a recent and horrific arson attack on the woodland many trees faced destruction, including a tree considered to have huge spiritual importance to Druids and Pagans across the globe.

The incident has devastated hundreds of individuals across the world, but has prompted a fantastic response from musicians who have been touched by the tragedy.

Glastonbury based rock musician Lui Krieg has teamed up with the dedicated campaigners behind We The People- Save Our Ancient Woodland, to release a single to honour the lost nature and raise funds for the organisation to continue their work in tree conservation and planting schemes.

The aptly titled track Wildwood is available for just £1, with all proceeds going towards saving our ancient trees. Lui Krieg comments-

Along with the government trying to destroy the UK’s ancient woodlands with HS2 and other projects in the name of “progress”, we are now dealing with vandals attacking Ancient Trees, including in recent years the cutting down of the 2000 year old “Holy Thorn” along with the arson attack on the ancient oaks, Gog and Magog, here in Glastonbury, Somerset.

This is happening all over the country now. In response to this urgent issue and the destruction of the Whiteleaved Oak, I have produced a moving song dedicated to the Ancient Trees and Woodlands of the British Isles.

We commend Lui for the fantastic work he is doing for an amazing cause, we hope people get behind the campaigners so they may continue their amazing work.
